Meet
Colleen Merritt, Ph.D
A senior research engineer with the DuPont
Chemical Solutions Enterprise's Clean and Disinfect team, Colleen
specializes in methods for cleaning and disinfecting mold, mildew
and bacterial contamination. Her current research focuses on
technologies for improved indoor air quality (IAQ), and she
has also done work in the areas of food sanitization and antiseptic
products for emergency responders. Colleen has represented DuPont
at several professional and trade meetings focused on issues
related to microbial contaminants and IAQ.
Colleen joined DuPont in 2001 after earning a Ph.D. in Chemical
Engineering that year from the Pennsylvania State University,
and graduated from the University of Maryland with a B.S. in
Chemical Engineering in 1995. She is a member of the American
Chemical Society, American Society for Microbiology, and the
American Conference of Governmental Industrial Hygienists.
After hours, she enjoys traveling, photography
and drawing, and volunteering with student outreach programs
that promote the science and engineering professions. An avid
outdoor enthusiast, Colleen is a member of Delaware’s
First State Velo Sport amateur cycling team.
